You can't miss the rugby at the AMI Stadium; the Crusaders will definitely put on a show for you. The atmosphere at these games is just insane. Whether you’re all about the goals, or just there for a good time with a bunch of mates, the rugby is for everyone!
Activities
You will never get bored in and around Christchurch. Jump on the water with a kayak or canoe and paddle down the Avon River to get a close view of the beautiful Botanic Gardens. If you’ve worked up an appetite after that, there are plenty of delicious cafes and restaurants.
The Port Hills are a must-visit, also known as the only hill in Christchurch, the views include Christchurch city, Lyttelton and Corsair Bay. You can also pop to the Lyttelton market on a Saturday to get a bit of breakfast and have a walk around the harbour where all the ferries leave for Diamond Harbour.
Akaroa is just a stone’s throw away from Christchurch with some more incredible views and the best mini golf course there is. If you love heights there is always the Gondola or a zip-line at Christchurch Adventure Park.
If you love slaying the slopes, Mt Hutt is only a couple of hours away so it's great for a day trip. If you’re feeling a bit more adventurous, there is always The Remarkables and Coronet Peak, which are only five hours away - it's the perfect place to get-away for the weekend and enjoy beautiful Queenstown and Wanaka.
Accommodation
Unless it’s a special occasion let’s be honest, students can only afford the Base Backpackers and Nomads. They are both easy on the pocket and a fantastic way to meet people from all over the world. However, if you’re after something a bit more fancy, then the Heritage Hotel is a beautiful old hotel in Cathedral Square. The Distinction Hotel is also a taste of luxury in Christchurch CBD.
